Yes, Labelers, you read that correctly, Facebook is rolling out a new “Fan Subscription” feature that will allow creators to take advantage of monetization on Facebook. We are going to compare Facebook’s Fan Subscription to OnlyFan’s Subscription and help you decide to sign up for one or the other!
Due to COVID19, Facebook has noticed an increase in video streaming on its platform. So why not open this up to more creators on their platform all while taking a cut of the money? This could be a great incentive for many individuals to support creators and artists online. This also gives creators another way to streamline their content through varying social platforms and allow them to make more money while doing it!
So what does this mean for OnlyFans?
Well, Facebook has a strict NO NUDITY rule. They encourage “advertiser-friendly” content and have no problem demonetizing creators who don’t follow that guideline. As we are all well aware, OnlyFans is known for adult content and some would even say soft porn. So there’s no competition there. These are two different platforms with much different audiences. But you, as a creator, can still monetize both! And let’s be real, sexy time on camera or video doesn’t always mean nudity. (wink emoji) Let’s get creative labelers!
Let’s compare the numbers
The minimum you can charge for both Facebook fan subscriptions and OnlyFans subscription is $4.99 per month.
Apple and Facebook will receive 30% of your earnings while OnlyFans receives only 20%. For Facebook, Once you reach a $100 threshold, you will then be able to receive your earnings. Onlyfans currently has a 5-7 day period in which you can receive your earnings upon request.
OnlyFan also has a paid private messaging feature that allows creators to send direct messages to all subscribers and be paid for it! The minimum you can charge for a private message is $5.00.
Well how does this work? Much different than dating apps, the creator will send a private message to all of their subscribers. You cannot send out individual paid private messages. It has to be available for all of your subscribers. If a subscriber wants to view the messages, they must pay the amount you requested prior to them be able to open the private message. Yes, the same video or photo to all of your subscribers, and they all (who accepts it) pay for it! WIN!
I mean, they do say it goes down in the DMs.
Well, It’s choosing season, friends! Here is something to consider when choosing to promote or sign up your Facebook Fan Subscription or your OnlyFans Subscription Site:
What type of creator are you?
Are you a teacher who helps other educators with creative ways to teach their students? Some would say they’re not sure your school’s principal will be too thrilled about coming across your name and content on OnlyFans, but hey, they already don’t pay you enough, soooo… shrug emoji*
Are you a fitness trainer that wants to offer specialized workouts? Why not use both Facebook Fan Subscription AND OnlyFans? You essentially can upload the same video content to both platforms and earn money from both!
At the end of the day, sis, you set the rules. Make. That. Money!
Don’t let patriarchal restraint and societal contradictions get in the way of stacking your coins. What you choose to do and which platform serves your audience the best is all up to you.
