How to Monetize Your Business
Haven’t you heard? Having multiple ways to monetize your brand is very important! Especially in times like this, you should be using all your platforms available to you! Having multiple forms of income is always a plus, and with many platforms out there working in your favor, it’s important to act on it!
What is monetization?
Monetization is the idea of turning a non-revenue-generating item into money.
Why should I monetize on multiple platforms?
Being able to diversify your income is always a plus, especially in the current state of the world! If you’re following is only on one platform, you could be getting multiple streams of income. All you have to do is diversify your platforms!
Which Platforms Am I able to Monetize on?
Our top picks for monetization platforms include Youtube, Patreon, IGTV, Bird.TV, Wista, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Twitch. Youtube is very possible to monetize, although it is rather difficult because YouTubes policies state that they can demonetize you to break a few guidelines.
YouTube:
Now the question is, how possible is it to monetize through YouTube? YouTubes policies make monetizing your account difficult but possible, specifically if you break their guidelines. One America News is demonetized for posting false information and not fact-checking. A few things that can happen with demonetization are:
- Strike 1
-
- So, it’s your first offense. 🤷♀️ No need to freak- likely the only punishment you’ll get is not being able to post for a week, as well as existing videos get demonetized for the week. The strike will remain on your channel for ninety days. Because this is your first offense, these consequences are not fatal but still serious. The consequences only get more serious from here.
- Strike 2
-
- Not being able to upload video, live stream, or stories for two weeks would be such a bummer! 🤭 Along with not being able to post custom thumbnails and unable to create, edit, or add collaborators playlists. This strike will also remain on your channel for ninety days.
- Strike 3
-
- Three strikes and you’re out! Your third strike would only happen if you already had two strikes and did something else to violate YouTube’s guidelines. Unfortunately, if you get to this point, your channel has been terminated. 😭
Patreon:
Patreon is known as the safe-haven for Creators. This platform allows your followers to decide if they want to pay to watch your content. It’s a membership service for creators that gives them the tools they need to manage their paying patrons. Many creators use Patreon to pay their paying followers a little ✨extra ✨that most won’t get on their normal posting platform. Multiple subscription plans are offering commissions of 5%, 8%, or 12%. This platform is hands down one of the best ways for followers to connect with creators!
IGTV:
Instagram TV launched in June of 2018; it has since taken off as longer TV-like videos that will be watched on your phone! This feature is perfect for you if Instagram is one of your most popular platforms, where you have the most followers. You can now run short ads on your IGTV videos and agree to follow the Partner Program, as well as their monetization policies.
Vimeo:
When you think of Vimeo, you may think of an “off-brand” YouTube. Well, they’re kind of right- it’s similar in the way that you can have your own channel, still with all the great quality and features. However, to post more than 500 MB a week, you have to upgrade to a premium plan. Which then allows you to post freely as much as you want!
