Our Favorite Disappearing Act is BACK in the Spotlight!
Calling all Snapchat lovers! Snapchat launched a new feature called ‘Spotlight’, and YOU can get paid while using it!
I bet you’re wondering, what is this new feature all about? Snapchat is encouraging users to post 60-second videos to show their creativity with a chance to win a share of $1 million a day throughout the rest of the year. Snapchat wants its spotlight page to be a place where anyone can be seen and heard, not just influencers and celebrities. Everyone has a chance to make money and go viral on the Spotlight page.
We’ve seen Instagram try and compete with TikTok when they released Instagram Reels, and now it’s Snapchat’s turn. Although the algorithm may be the same between TikTok, Reels, and Spotlight, there are a few differences you should know about when starting to use the Snapchat Spotlight page:
- Snapchat is only allowing original content. No watermarks! This means you cannot bring your TikTok content over to Snapchat.
- Snapchat allows users to keep their profiles private while still creating Spotlight content to stay on brand. This means it doesn’t matter how many followers you have; everyone has a chance on the Spotlight page!
- There is no comment section, so engagement is based solely on likes and views. Not only are there no comments, but likes are also private! Only the creator can see how much engagement their content is getting. This could be a game-changer for people. In a world where likes and followers mean so much on social media, Snapchat is taking that pressure away, so you no longer have to think, “I wish I had more likes.”
So what does this mean for influencers? Snapchat Spotlight may not be appealing to the influencers who have built their following through TikTok and Instagram. Snapchat Spotlight is not a place of competition on likes and followers. It’s a place to express yourself without having to worry about the pressure of likes, followers, and comments!
Happy Snapping!
