Now For The Good Stuff.Did you know that there is one number that is more important than your follower count? Yep, shocking I know right? You would be surprised when we tell you that your follower count actually doesn’t mean as much as you may think it does. The number that matters is your engagement rate. Tip: Just because you have a lot of followers does not mean you have a high engagement rate. Whether you are a blogger who wants to grow or a business owner who wants to work with influencers, knowing how to calculate engagement is important. Our free worksheet will not only help you calculate your own engagement rate and understand the results, but it also gives an actionable plan that correlates with your score to help you improve. We know, we can’t believe we’re giving this away for free either!
Why engagement is Important. Engagement rate is important because it tells you how interactive someone’s followers are. It represents how many people are liking and commenting on your photos. If you are a brand, you are going to want influencers with high engagement rates to be representing your products. If you are an influencer or an aspiring influencer, your engagement rate is something brands look into when searching for people to sponsor or partner with. Essentially, this is a huge indicator of whether or not a person’s followers will interact with posts about your product. The more interaction a post receives, the more it will circulate throughout Instagram. If you are a brand, you want to maximize on as much advertisement as possible.
How To Calculate Your Engagement Rate. Before you even think about calculating your engagement rate, you need to know that this will take you longer if you do have a business account. If you do not have a business account you will start by adding together the total comments and total likes for each post on your page from your last 30 photos–within the last 90 days. If you have less than 30 photos in the last 90 days, then calculate the last photos posted in the last 90 days.
Next, you will total up the number and divide it by your total amount of followers. Next, multiply this number by 100. The number you get will be your engagement rate percentage.
What The Total Number Means. Make sure you are referencing the Social Media Report Card worksheet so that you are able to see what your total engagement number means.
